LOCOG is the organisation responsible for planning and staging the London 2012 Games across 26 Olympic and 20 Paralympic sports.
The Sailing Event Management Team’s responsibilities include the
planning and organisation of the Sailing events, providing sports
specific input into the briefs for venue design and functional area
planning, identification of training venues, test event planning and
the development of the competition schedule.
The Sailing Services Manager is responsible for the planning,
organisation, management and conduct of the administration functions of
the Sailing events at the London 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic
Games.
Key responsibilities/accountabilities:
Manage and deliver the following functions within Sailing Event
Management at the Olympic and Paralympic Games:
▪ Athlete Services
▪ Sport Information
▪ International Federation Services
Develop
the strategy and manage the process for the identification, recruitment
and training of the Sailing Sport Specific Volunteers and work closely
with the International Sailing Federation (ISAF) and the International
Association for Disabled Sailing (IFDS) on the selection and training
of National Technical Officials required for the Olympic and Paralympic
Games.
To manage logistical arrangements and production of materials for all ISAF and IFDS official visits.
To
coordinate the collation of information and data for input into the
Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between ISAF/IFDS and LOCOG in a
thorough and timely manner.
Liaise with NOC/NPC (National
Olympic and Paralympic Committee) Services to coordinate Sailing Event
Management input into requests for information and attendance at
NOC/NPC visits.
Support the Sailing Manager in all work
streams and represent the interests of Sailing Event Management with
other Functional Areas within LOCOG.
Develop and maintain the Sailing Event Management Progress Chart, Risk and Issue Logs.
Work closely with the Sailing Manager to manage any budgets delegated to Sailing Competition Management
Work
closely with the Sailing Manager to ensure all relevant LOCOG policies
and procedures are followed by members of Sailing Competition
Management.
Undertake other related duties and manage projects as delegated by the Sailing Manager.
Key knowledge, experience and qualifications required:
Knowledge of ISAF and IFDS technical requirements for Sailing disciplines at major events.
Excellent administration and project management skills.
Proven event management experience.
Ability to manage multiple projects
Experience of working with ISAF and IFDS and knowledge of their structure and operation.
Experience
of working with the RYA (Royal Yachting Association) and knowledge of
its structure and operation at domestic and international events.
Previous experience of managing volunteers at large events.
Experience of managing financial resources and associated budgets.
Can demonstrate an understanding/knowledge of the operational elements which are required to deliver major Sailing events.
Experience of organising national and international Sailing events.
Long-term interest and involvement in Olympic/Paralympic Sport
Experience of making logistical arrangements and producing supporting documentation.
Knowledge of how venue operation/management works and the issues they face in delivering services to clients.
