As part of the new National Excel Programme, England Netball seeks to appoint a National Excel Head Coach, to oversee the technical direction of the National Excel Programme and support the development of the Excel coaching workforce. The National Excel Head Coach will work with National Talent Manager to ensure high quality Excel Programmes and Pathways are established for athletes and the coaching workforce, both in the short and long term.

The key responsibilities include:

  • Working with National Managers and Coaches to set the annual and long term vision of the National Excel Programme.
  • Establishing the overall technical direction of the National Excel Programme.
  • Working with the National Excel coaches to implement programmes at each camp (Summer and Easter) and training weekend.
  • Overseeing all camps, training weekends and selection weekends.
  • Managing the direction and development of the National Excel athletes through continuous assessment.
  • Overseeing and delivering the technical and tactical elements of AASE.
  • Overseeing the direction and delivery of the Excel Academy Programme, working with and supporting the Excel Academy coaches.

Successful applicants will have:

  • England Netball Level Three Award Coach or equivalent.
  • Proven track record and success of coaching at an elite level.
  • Proven track record in selecting, preparing, and coaching the performance of elite female athletes.
  • Proven track record of establishing coaching direction at a strategic level and successfully implementing plans.
  • Up to date knowledge and understanding of the England Netball Excel Pathway and the principles behind the programmes.
  • Experience of mentoring and guiding coaches working at an elite level.
  • Strong leadership, team building, communication and people management skills.
  • The role is full time but part time applications are welcomed as job sharing may be considered.

Location is flexible although the job holder will be required to attend national sites such as the England Netball National Netball Centres, Excel Academy centres and England Netball Head Office. Overseas travel may also be involved. Candidates must be willing to work hours as required, including evenings and weekends, and have a full and current driving licence.
