The England and Wales Cricket Board’s (ECB) Science and Medicine Department aims to, “Optimise England's best players’ availability and performance through the provision of the cricket's best science and medicine services.” As part of this drive, the ECB is seeking applications from extensively experienced strength and conditioning (S&C) coaches. Reporting directly to the Head of Science and Medicine, the post holder will join the Science and Medicine Management Team working closely with the National Leads for Physiotherapy, Psychology, Performance Lifestyle and the Chief Medical Officer to provide integrated support to all England Teams and Squads. The post holder will have specific responsibility for S&C coaching to the England Performance Programme / Lions players. He / she will also be responsible for leading the achievement of two of ECB Science and Medicine’s strategic objectives, (i) to ensure England players are physically the best prepared in the world cricket and, (ii) to engage, lead and, quality assure a national network of S&C coaches delivering to England and First Class County Squads. You will manage 4 S&C coaches, a performance nutritionist and, have responsibility for the S&C and nutrition budgets. The position also offers the opportunity to develop new research and innovation projects and contribute to existing ones. The post requires considerable travel within the UK and some overseas travel. You will be based at the National Cricket Performance Centre in Loughborough when not on duty with the England Performance Programme / Lions. You will need first class S&C coaching skills and extensive experience (working within a multidisciplinary team) of the provision of S&C coaching to elite athletes / high performing teams is essential. The successful applicant will have a successful track record of leading and developing staff within the field of S&C. You should have a graduate qualification in Sports Science and/or S&C or equivalent qualifications and experience. |
