I work for the English Institute of Sport within their Sports Psychology Team. I currently work with the Great Britain Women's Hockey and the England Women's Rugby squads.

Privately, I work in football and field hockey at present.

As well as the above, I have worked in Korfball, Golf and Tennis

WORK AS A SPORTS PSYCHOLOGIST

Oct 2009 to Present       English Institute of Sport – Sports Psychologist  Bisham Abbey

I am currently working two and a half days a week with the GB Women’s Hockey squad and one and a half days a week with the RFUW. I work closely within the framework of the EIS and have access to all of the support structures within this, including regular supervision with an experienced sports psychologist.  ·

Sept 2008 – Sept 2009         English Institute of Sport - Psychology Internship    London 

The internship began with an initial period of time allocated to observation of varied elite sports, with a mentor for guidance. This was followed by a period of supervised provision of psychological support to athletes detailed below. Alongside this was a tailored CPD programme, which included courses on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I also attended a UK Sport Fast track practitioner course. This is an accelerated learning programme for practitioners in elite sport. Areas covered and experiences gained during the internship period:·        

England Women’s Hockey squad – Interventions included:

Undertook a three months Needs Analysis and presented a report back to the Head Coach on possible solutions.  ·        

RFUW – Interventions included:

Vision and Values -  Feedback highlighted that this was an effective process for self and peer evaluation and learning, and a valuable process in the early development of creating a high performance environment.

Leadership Development

One-to-one performance issues – Self-confidence, limiting beliefs, injury rehabilitation and interpersonal issues.  ·        

TASS athletes:
 
- Provided one to one psychology support to various sports including Fencing, Shooting, Canoeing, Judo and Dressage.  ·        

UK Sport –One year Fast Track Practitioner Programme:
 
- This programme enhanced personal development by attendance at workshops which focused on understanding three main areas in the world of elite sport; Knowledge and Behaviour, Impact, and Performance.

Hello!

I was born and bred in Norwich for 18 years, before moving up to Sheffield for my undergraduate degree. After 18 months travelling the world, I wandered down to London which is where I've been living for over 10 years.

I've lived all over London - (Shepherd's Bush, Stepney, Clapham) and now live in Crouch End, (I know..... interesting name) in North London. I live with my partner Tara who's a Clinical Psychologist. No pets as of yet - but I'm working on that one!

I'm a budding triathlete - and a general fan of most sports. I support the mighty Canaries (Norwich City Football Club) who always give a couple of weeks a year, where you think they might be destined for greater things (all remember Jeremy Goss's volley in Europe?) and then end up in a relegation dogfight!

I find people and places fascinating and look forward to finding out more about both in the future.
