DNA Sports Performance
We provide specific physical preparation to a wide range of sports including, aquatic sports, combat sports, endurance sports, racket sports, motor sport and repeated sprint sports such as rugby, hockey, netball and football. You name it, we’ve coached in it!
Our focus is to provide scientifically underpinned strength and conditioning coaching to elite and amateur athletes across the North West and North Wales region. We have a proven track record in helping to maximise the genetic potential of various athletes in specific sports.
We work with your sports specific coach and possibly other sports scientists such as: a physiotherapist, nutritionist, biomechanists, physiologists, performance analysts and psychologists. Helping you realise your dream of becoming faster, stronger, for longer!
Strength and Conditioning:
Strength and conditioning is concerned with enhancing all the physical elements which an athlete requires to achieve their maximal performance. The process starts with a detailed needs analysis which will include the physiological and biomechanical aspect of your sport. We will then talk to your sport specific coach and physiotherapist on your individual needs and finally a testing battery will be implemented to access your current needs.
Interventions will then be designed and administered; with on going monitoring and evaluation occurring to check the planned interventions are achieving the desired results. This whole process utilises evidence based practice to ensure that your long term athlete development is maximised.
Performance programs can be designed for:
- Functional Performance (e.g. increases in: Speed, Agility, Power, Strength, Explosiveness, Muscle mass, Flexibility, Functional movement)
- Injury Prevention / Robustness (get the body prepared for high training loads in the future so we will not break down so easily)
- Movement Mechanics (this may be in the field: speed and agility mechanics, or in the gym learning to lift correctly)
- Kinetic Chain Correction (address issues such as posture correction and functional movement impairments)
- Rehabilitation from Injury (us being the part in the chain between the physio and playing sport again injury free)
