I have always been interested in sport and performance from a young age. Throughout my studies at Leeds Metropolitan University I gained hands on experience working with a variety of athletes including professional rugby league players, the British army and GB race walkers. Hands on applied experience included measurement of body composition, human power output and overall fitness and health assessment of athletes.
I graduated from Leeds Met with a Second Class Honours: First Division degree in Sport and Exercise Science (BSc. hons) in Septemeber 2006 and went on to work at the university as a Biomechanics lecturer and a sport science support technition at Carnegie Research Institute. Here i built up a stronger relationship with the athletes and their coaches, working alongside the Leeds Rhinos and the RFL referees to provide regular fitness monitoring and health screening stress tests.
In September 2007 I decided to continue my education and specialise inpaticular in sports physiology; and I was accepted at Loughborough on to the MSc. Exercise Physiology course. Alongside my studies at Loughborough I lead student and athlete workshops/lectures, promoting fitness and how to assess all components in both a field and lab based environment, to monitor performance and training . I also helped out with ongoing research looking at VO2 peak and fat max in children, as well as longitudinal research assessing health awareness and sports participation levels in school children. I also carried out regular fitness assessments on visiting professional athletes, both academy and adult ages, from varied sports like hockey, lacrosse, football and the ECB umpires.
I finished my degree at Loughborough in August 2008 and completed a scientific report researching talented youth field hockey players and their match performance using GPS.
After graduating i have been fortunate to work with Dr John Buckley at Lifestyle Fitness as an exercise physiologist. Here i have been able to work with both disabled and elderly patients referred from hospital cardiac rehabilitation. This job enabled me to broaden my applied physiology experience within a larger population of cliental.
As well as my strong interest in performance enhancment i am also interested in injury rehabilitation within sports athletes. During 2005 I completed my Advanced Sports Therapy Diploma at Active Health Group and went on to research into the effects of pre-event massage on anaerobic running performance. I believe massage both physiologically and psychologically promotes runnning performance to the athlete.

I aspire to continue my role as an Exercise Physiologist. After working in the applied setting with hockey players during my dissertation for my masters and also previous sport science support with footballers and rugby players, i would like to continue working with intermittent sports players.
I hope to travel to Australia in the new year and possibly work with some regional teams, providing up todate knowledge and skills across the waters.
Inparticular i am interested in promoting sports performance and assisting injury rehabilitation.
